Linked Callouts in Siri
Siri today provides fast, direct, and trustworthy answers to open domain questions. The answers are in the form of a passage, and a short span that directly answers the question is highlighted. We have now added Linked Callout on top of the passage. If the highlighted text contains a named entity, it is chosen to be shown on top of the passage as Linked Callout. The named-entity is linked to a knowledge graph (KG), and users can explore more information about that entity by tapping onto the KG card. The goal of linked callout feature is to combine structured knowledge and unstructured information retrieval techniques. The linked callout provides direct, clear, and complete answers to user queries, and significantly enriches the web answer user experience.
All ACL attendees are invited to stop by the Apple booth (booth number 19, located in the Westin Harbour Castle) to experience this demo in person.
